Design Process
A few examples of the thinking, steps, and artifacts that shape my design process.
Much of my portfolio is grounded in gaming and interactive product design, where I developed a strong focus on engagement, clarity, feedback, and flow—principles that also inform how I approach learner-centered instructional design.
🤔 Discovery
I spend time upfront understanding the problem before moving into solutions. Conversations with users, stakeholders, and subject matter experts help uncover needs, goals, pain points, and constraints, often leading to artifacts like personas, empathy maps, journey maps, user stories, and flowcharts.
“If I had an hour to solve a problem, I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes thinking about solutions.” -  Albert Einstein
👩‍🎨 Design Exploration
My design process is iterative and shaped by real-world constraints such as platform capabilities, timelines, technical complexity, and budget. Through it all, my north star is usability, guided by empathy and a clear understanding of the people I’m designing for.
🧠 Brainstorming
Brainstorming is one of my favorite parts of the UX process. I love collaborating with passionate teams to explore different ways of solving complex problems and shaping better experiences.

🔶 Prototyping
Rapid prototyping is one of my core strengths. It allows me to test ideas early, gather feedback, and refine the experience before development moves too far ahead.
My web development background also helps me create more realistic prototypes when needed. By using scripting, variables, state management, timers, and audio, I can build interactive demos that better communicate flow, behavior, and intent.

🎨 Design Systems
I build design systems with reusable components and clearly defined standards to reduce duplication, improve consistency, and support collaboration across design and development.

✨ Guiding Principles

At the heart of my work is a desire to create thoughtful experiences that feel intuitive, engaging, and human.
